This is reduced but not so much that the ripeness of the underlying fruit isn't reasonably apparent. There is a silky, even satiny mouth feel to the solidly well-concentrated medium-bodied flavors that exude structure-buffering dry extract on the impressively long and mineral-inflected finish. This delivers a striking combination of finesse and power. Drinking range: 2023 - Rating: 92-95 L&S (Jan 2013)

Today the 2011 Nuits-Saint-Georges La Richemone comes across as tight, compact and closed in on itself. This is one of the rare Perrot-Minot 2011s that is going to require time to fully come together. Tar, smoke, licorice and earthy notes inform the explosive, structured finish. The Richemone offers good potential, but it also clearly needs more time in bottle. Drinking range: 2016 - 2026 Rating: 92 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Mar 2014)

Good full red. Musky red berries, blackberry and a whiff of vanilla on the nose; could use a bit more precision. Boasts good sweet crushed dark berry fruit flavors but a bit less verve than the La Riotte. A rather fat style in the context of this group of 2011s. Rating: 90 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Mar 2014)

(from vines planted in 1902; 50% vendange entier): Bright medium ruby-red. Wild aromas of black raspberry, violet, smoke and musky roast coffee. Lush, sweet and dense, with intriguing stem elements adding interest to the flavors of black raspberry, minerals, licorice, flowers and peppery spices. This wine struck me as Gevrey-like on the nose and Vosne-like in the mouth. Terrific density of material here. Finishes with compelling sweetness and well-buffered tannins. Rating: 92-94 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Feb 2013)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
