PENFOLDS

2011 Bin 23 Pinot Noir

Grapes Pinot Noir
Colour Red
Origin Australia, South Australia
ABV 13.5%

Made using only free run juice from 30% whole bunch Adelaide Hills fruit, fermented in open topped fermenters and then aged in French oak of which 55% is new. Bottled without fining or filtration. Bright and tightly structured with a sappy rhubarb fruit and bright tannins, this looks very good and will develop well in bottle over a year or two. L&S (Mar 2012)

Penfolds

Celebrating its 170th Birthday this year, Penfolds continues to produce superb wine, highly regarded on a global scale. Christopher Rawson Penfold was an English physician who emigrated to Australia and settled in Adelaide after the purchase of a 500 acre estate in Magill. Believing wine had certain medical benefits – Christopher planted French vines that he had purchased in England around his cottage the Grange. Originally they started producing port and sherry but soon found that Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling both excelled in the region. The winery now produces a huge range of red wine, white wine and, of course, port. Visit Website
