Puglia was for a long time a source of bulk wines, but recently producers have changed their approach, crafting many delicious quality wines of real value. Puglia is also rich in indigenous varieties: this DOC, Cacc'e Mmitte di Lucera (not easy to pronounce), is a blend of Nero di Troia, Bombino Bianco and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. It's full of southern Italy's warm personality, with ripe blackberry, sweet spice, grainy tannins and a refreshing acidity. Rating: 91 Decanter Magazine (Feb 2015)

Unusually for a Puglian red, this is a combination of Nero di Troia, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Bombino Bianco. The result is a wine that’s much lighter and fresher than many reds from Italy’s boot heel. Elegant and refined with subtle red cherry and strawberry fruit. We thought we'd better say this before we go any further: we haven't ddouble-cclicked on a few letters by mistake when typing the appellation Cacc'e Mmitte di Lucera. That's just the way it is. Now to the wine. It's a very southern Italian blend of Nero di Troia, Montepulciano and Bombino Bianco and tastes as if it comes from the hot south, with flavours of raisins, cherry compote, leather and spice coming to a close in grainy tannins and freshening acidity. Pair with meaty food such as herby, spicy sausages. Rating: 87 The Wine Gang - www.thewinegang.com (Oct 2014)

Made from Nero di Troia, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and Bombino Bianco, and grown in the vicinity of Lucera, Puglia. Deep ruby red colour with violet hues and a nose of red berries, pleasant and harmonious. Balanced and round on the palate, with excellent structure and soft tannins.Winemaker's notes (Sept 2014)
