This is Peter's 'Cote Rotie' styled red from his brilliant estate at Terra d'Alter. 95% Syrah rounded out with 5% of Viognier. The different varities are harvested at the same time, meaning lovely ripe Viognier and then pressed and fermented together. This is intense and silky with lovely deep, dark black fruits and lots of leather and meaty spice - deliciously full of sunshine. Very polished. L&S (Nov 2014)

From austere granite soils. Syrah and Viognier, co-fermented, juice run straight into 100% new American oak, with barrels seasoned for four years in the open air. Beautifully scented and lifted, creamy black berries, again that spice and tobacco, with pure, elegant, refined smooth sweetness, bittersweet dark chocolate and a little violet lift, lovely smooth, long, beautifully juicy yet creamy and ripe into a long finish. Terras d'Alter is in the Alto Alentejo region in the south of Portugal, where the history of wine growing dates back to Roman times. This extensive history, and a focus which remains largely on native Portuguese varietals, is combined with the New World expertise of dynamic & enterprising winemaker Peter Bright, an Australian making wine in Portugal since 1982.
