ALICANTE BOUSCHET

2011 Terras d'Alter

Grapes Alicante Bouschet
Colour Red
Origin Portugal, Alentejo
ABV 15.5%

Prolonged maceration on skins followed by 14 months maturation in barrel has bought out the richness of this variety. Intense notes of dark fruit and spice with a floral nuance. On the palate - plums and prune notes, great acidity and structure. Silky and rich tannins. Very long and rich finish with notes of chocolate and vanilla. Winemaker's notes (Jun 2014)

Terras d'Alter

Terras d'Alter is in the Alto Alentejo region in the south of Portugal, where the history of wine growing dates back to Roman times. This extensive history, and a focus which remains largely on native Portuguese varietals, is combined with the New World expertise of dynamic & enterprising winemaker Peter Bright, an Australian making wine in Portugal since 1982.
