Made from 90% Sangiovese, 10% other grapes as per regulations. This Chianti Classico is aged for 10 months in small second or third fill French oak barrels, followed by 3 months in the bottle. It is a genuine and characteristic expression of the Sangiovese varietal, Chianti Classico has a deep, dense ruby red colour. Wild berries, sour black cherry, thyme and leather feature on the nose. Though bold and dry, the taste is softened by the delicate sweetness of the French oak. Great with cold cuts, grilled meat, and medium mature cheeses. Winemaker's notes (Sept 2014)

Poggio Bonelli
A relatively large estate by Chianti standards, covering over 800 hectares of which 83 are under vine, located right in the heart of the classico district. Part of an investment portfolio the estate is run with little expense spared in the pursuit of making a truly representative wine of the region. This investment extends to the employment of Carlo Ferrini as oenologist, whose rather more deft touch these days, ensures that the true character of the region and the grape speaks through the wine.
