81% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc. Now owned and run by the same team as at Cheval Blanc. This is the first vintage produced entirely organically. Nose is floral, wine is lively, bright. Instantly you sense this is a grown-up style. Nicely put together. It has a proper feel to it. Good fruit power and drive. Attractively ripe and this flows right through to the longish finish. Lovely vanilla notes and long lasting spice. Rating: 91 L&S (Apr 2013)

The 2012 Quinault l'Enclos has a fresh and quite vigorous bouquet that bounds from the glass: blackberry, briary and light tobacco notes intermingle with undergrowth, though it shows a little oxidation after several minutes. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fleshy with gentle grip. This feels quite harmonious in the mouth with a white pepper tinged finish that comes across a little smudged and lightweight. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting. Drinking range: 2022 - 2025 Rating: 86 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Sept 2022)
The 2012 Quinault l'Enclos was described as the first vintage whereby they made the wine they wanted, according to technical director, Pierre-Olivier Clouet. It certainly has a winsome nose with cedar and iodine aromas, all very pure and charming. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, a wine built on its purity, though I do find it just a little monotone towards the finish. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at Berry, Brothers & Rudd. Drinking range: 2020 - 2033 Rating: 90 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Dec 2019)
The 2012 Quinault L'Enclos is a forward, open-knit wine with considerable near and medium-term appeal. Sweet tobacco, spices, blood orange, white pepper, crushed flowers and plums meld together in the 2012 Quinault L'Enclos. Sexy, radiant and supple, the 2012 is quite open today. The pliant, creamy finish adds to an overall impression of finesse. This is a gorgeous 2012. Drinking range: 2016 - 2032 Rating: 91 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Jan 2016)
Château Quinault l'Enclos
A 19 hectare estate located in the Saint-Émilion appellation of Bordeaux. Although originating the the 17th century, the Château was not used in the production of wine until it was bought by négociant Baptiste Mons in 1930. Since then it has been brought along in leaps and bounds by Dr. Alain Raynaud until its sale in 2008 to Bernard Arnault and his associate Albert Frère, however Raynaud stayed on as a consultant at the property. The vines have a high average age of 60-70 years, and are planted on gravel, sand and clay terroir.
