Not nearly as big or jammy as much Primitivo from this neck of the Italian woods can be, the Làmia from Alberto Longo shows attractive dark cherry fruit tinged with herb and succulent fresh fruit underpinned by the tannic heft you expect from a sun-blessed Southern Italian rosso. Cantine di Terravecchia
Owned by Alberto Longo, Cantine di Terravicchia is situated in Lucera, in the southern Italian region of Apuglia. Spread over two sites, the 35 hectare estate is presided over by the nineteenth century 'farmhouse Cavalli'. Although the building may be very traditional, the equipment is all state-of-the-art and high tech. The barrel room at Cantine di Terravecchia has equipment to control light, temperature and humidity.
