Named after the year Disznókő's vineyards were first mentioned in the land register, this late-harvest, botrytised wine is full of marmalade, sweet spice and honey notes. Whole the palate is lusciously sweet, it has amazing freshness too. Rating: 91 Sarah Marsh MW, Club Oenologique Magazine (Sept 2016)

The grapes are de-stemmed and crushed, before undergoing skin contact with the must, the wine is then pressed and fermentated in stainless steel. The wine undergoes ten to twelve months of barrel ageing in 225-litre oak casks, usually 2nd or third fill, The 2012 vintage was bottled in April 2014. A fairly rich and elegant late harvest with strong botrtyis character. The nose is citrusy and evokes bitter orange, fresh apricot, spices. The attack is gentle and continues with a broad, creamy structure, and round acidity, culminating in a lingering finish with fine bitterness.Winemaker's notes

Disznókő

The name Disznókő - the rock of the wild boar - was first recorded in 1413 and refers to a large rock sat atop a small hill overlooking the vineyards. Listed as a "first growth" as far back as 1732, this 150ha vineyard in the south west of the Tokaji region has long been regarded as one of the region's finest.

As with much of Tokaji, Disznókő's fortunes suffered under nationalisation during the Communist era. But, in 1992, it was purchased by AXA Millésimes (owners of Château Pichon Longueville and Quinta do Noval, amongst others) who have reinvigorated Disznókő and put in the love and investment required to return it to the top rank of Tokaji estates.
