Explosions of citrus and floral firewood - huge flavours are unleashed in this spot on Sauvignon.

Sourced from a single vineyard in the Southern Valleys sub-region of Marlborough where the soil structure has a high content of clay loam over ancient gravels. The shallow, fast draining, low fertile soil helps to produce lush, aromatic, ripe wines with structure. The grapes were thinned to one bunch per shoot to increase concentration and flavour. All leaves were removed from the fruiting zone to achieve maximum ripeness and to avoid any unripe characters. The grapes were hand-picked and whole bunch pressed directly into 7 year old hogshead barrels for wild fermentation. Aged on full yeast lees, and stirred regularly for 10 months with a small portion going through malo-lactic fermentation. Not fined with a light filtration prior to bottling.
A savoury nose with aromas of
lemon balm, lanolin oil and apricot kernel,
combined with biscuity notes.
Palate: The palate is firmly structured
with excellent concentration, balanced
with crystalline acidity. Extended lees
ageing and stirring adds breadth, providing
complexity and elegance.
The wine is a perfect match with soft and
mature cheeses, terrines and pates. Drink
between 2015 and 2020.
Wonderfully inviting orange notes at first, but also wild grasses and flowers, very aromatic in a broad spectrum with the oak very much in the background. Tight and more green-fruited on the palate. Nice grainy texture, super-intense fruit. Long and just a touch of heat on the finish.

Two Rivers of Marlborough: Full Wine List and Profile
David Clouston is originally from Marlborough, and after 22 vintages abroad from Oregon to Chile, Corsica to Alsace, he returned home and set about exploring the valleys and diverse terroirs of Marlborough. The main production is the Sauvignon made from fruit from both the Awatere and Wairau river valleys, whence the 'Two Rivers of Marlborough' name, but his hillside Pinot Noir is showing great potential.
Dave was a finalist in the 2011 Young Australasian WineMaker of the Year. Awards and accolades are rolling in for the new vintages and the Two Rivers Sauvignon Blanc has won Gold at IWSC UK, Blue Gold at Sydney International, Gold at NZ International, received 5 stars from NZ most recognised critic Michael Cooper.
