Indaba's Mosaic delivers an instant hit of Bordeaux on the nose, made from all five of the permitted Red Bordeaux grape varieties, this has lovely spice and some crunch to the attractive dark berry fruit. The palate is joyously light and pretty again with the intense dark Cabernet berries in the background - a great value red that really delivers. L&S (Jan 2015)

A funky modern South African brand with a heart, Indaba donates a proportion of its profits to the Indaba scholarship, which is awarded to "financially needy and academically deserving students" looking to pursue a career in wine. Given that the judges had no way of knowing any of that when they awarded the Cabernet-led Mosaic Bordeaux blend a place in the Top 100 for its "bright fruit, supple feel and great value", the project is clearly working as a wine producer as well as a charity - a testament no doubt to the skills of top winemaker Bruwer Raats in the cellar. The Wine Merchant (Jul 2015)

(a five-variety Bordeaux blend consisting of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 6% Malbec and 4% each Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot; done almost entirely in stainless steel): Bright, dark red with ruby highlights. Slightly tanky aromas of dark berries, bitter chocolate and herbs lifted by violet. Then surprisingly brisk and delineated on the palate, with dark fruit, herb and spice flavors displaying excellent energy and firmness. Drinking range: 2015 - 2018 Rating: 88 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Jun 2015)

Indaba

The wine-making is overseen by Bruwer Raats, celebrated winemaker of Raats Family Wines. The grapes for the range of wines are selected from emerging regions of the Cape Winelands such as Robertson, Wellington and the Breede River Valley.
A commitment to social responsibility has always been a key part of the Indaba philosophy. A portion of the proceeds from the wine’s global sales funds a scholarship programme that supports wine-related studies for students from formerly disenfranchised communities in South Africa.
