The Pike family has been in the Australian drinks business since the 1880s, but started producing wine a century later, when Edgar Pike and his sons Andrew and Neil established an estate in the Polish Hill River sub-region of the Clare Valley. The 2014 is the 30th vintage of the family's best-known wine, a classic Clare dry Riesling that has been fermented nice and cool in stainless steel for maximum freshness and aromatic intensity. "Really linear and precise, it's full of mouthwatering lemon and lime and sherbet, with lots of zing and tang", the Top 100 judges said. The Wine Merchant (Jul 2015)

Pikes make beautiful whites (check out their White Mullet, a blend of viognier, riesling and chenin blanc) and this is no exception. Dry and light in alcohol, it’s all lemon and lime, like a daiquiri.Victoria Moore, The Daily Telegraph (Jun 2015)

James Suckling writing about Pikes in 2018 says 'They’re good, consistent wines packed with soulful interest, offering great value.' We certainly agree and are delighted to still be working together after more than 20 years. Owned by the Pike brothers, one of whom (Andrew) was for many years the senior viticulturist with Southcorp, the other (Neil) a former winemaker at Mitchells. Pikes now has its own winery, with Neil Pike presiding.
Generously constructed and flavoured wines are the order of the day, but wines which also have a restraint and a drinkability far ahead of some of the 'maximum one glass' reds that seem to dominate Australian shows and exports.
