LARMANDIER-BERNIER Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut 1er Cru
LARMANDIER-BERNIER Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut 1er Cru
| Grapes: Chardonnay | Origin: France, Non Vintage |
Lea & Sandeman review
This is a touch more full bodied than the Tradition, even though it is 100% Chardonnay, with some evolved notes yet still very elegant and long.Other reviews and comments
This is a fine bio-dynamic Champagne from the accomplished Pierre Larmandier-Berneir with undertones of brioche, a persistent bead and a very distinct personality that's all about vivid freshness and dry minerality.

The Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru is elegance personified. Smoke, minerals, chalk, and pears emerge as this generous yet subtle wine opens up in the glass. Sweet floral notes develop with air, but minerality is this wine's calling card, particularly on the finish, which is incredibly elegant and refined. Simply put, this is gorgeous juice. Though labelled as Premier Cru, only the fruit from Vertus is premier, while all of the fruit from Cramant, Avize and Oger in the blend is Grand Cru. The blend is 60% 2005 wine, with the addition of 40% reserve wine from 2004 and 2002.

Lots of lovely development on the nose. Not especially fizzy and with a teeny bit of astringency on the finish but a really complete wine that spreads across the palate.

Notes plus évoluées avec une touche d'oxydation. Matiere en bouche vineuse, notes de grillé en finale. Pour la table.

Very delicate and tense. Lacy textured – such a pleasure to drink, and not excessively dry at all. Balanced on a tightrope admittedly but no sign of any wobble. Lovely.
