Vintage very good to outstanding, the third in an exciting series after 18 and 19. Pricing might be interesting
We will try to give as many other commentators' views as possible, as usual, in an attempt to flesh out our own tastings. The Zoom tastings have already begun, and these pages will slowly fill out as the days go by to the first releases.
“2019 will be remembered as a “made-to-measure” vintage for Grand Cru producers who were able to choose the ideal time to begin the harvest." Ronan Laborde (President of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux and owner of Château Clinet)
We obviously hope that some of the release prices will reflect the lower prices of last year, and be below the current market prices of earlier vintages. Some will inevitably push their luck and will release close to the price at which you can still buy very good earlier vintages, and these make less sense to buy en primeur - unless you just like to buy a few cases to forget about every year.
