Cellar Fillers

We taste a huge number of wines during the mass tastings of en primeur week - many often more than once. These represent our pick of the bunch up to (a predicted) £300 per dozen in bond. Who says all Bordeaux is overpriced? It's easy to fill your cellar with 10 cases of drinking claret for £3k. In a vintage as good as 2018, there are some superb options particularly from the Northern Médoc and 'Satellite' appellations of the Right Bank.

Please note that we can source wines in any format if offered by the Château. Just indicate which size you would like in your wishlist order form or email us with a specific request. Bottling charges do apply so please see our Terms for more details.

Much like Meyney and Capbern, it often offers terrific value for money, especially in warmer vintages where the higher proportion of clay helps these wines stay fresh. There's plenty of juicy dark berry and black cherry fruit, as well as a streak of cool minerality. The texture is fine too and while there are a lot of tannins to contend with, they are nicely ripe and smooth. This is another excellent Le Crock that's built to last. This property has come on leaps and bounds since it became part of the Bignon-Cordier (Château Talbot) stable in 1999. It now makes some excellent value claret in a classically shaped style that's focused on freshness and drinkability. The 2018 has those qualities but it also has some extra ripeness and weight from the warmth of the vintage. There's juicy, soft red and black fruit, a creamy mid-palate, and good verve running through it all. Relatively lightly structured for a 2018, it's a very charming claret that will be hugely enjoyable in its youth and capable of lasting a decade in the cellar. TheThis property has seen a significant improvement in quality since 2004 when it came under the umbrella of CA Grands Crus. We've been impressed by several vintages since and this is another. The estate's dense clay soil has certainly helped with the summer heat, producing a wine that's endowed with fresh blackberry and dark cherry fruit, sweet spice and coffee. It has a refined mid-palate with lovely smoothness and depth. The fine tannins frame the wine rather than envelope it.
