Recommended Right Bank

These are the wines from the Right Bank which most impressed us during the primeur tastings in early April. While some wines on this side of the river lacked freshness, these are all beautifully balanced clarets packed with juicy dark fruit, very fine tannin, and well integrated alcohol. It's not just the very top wines, there are plenty of things here to excite at all price points including some excellent Fronsac, Côtes de Castillon, Côtes de Bourg and Puisseguin Saint Emilion.

Please note that we can source wines in any format if offered by the Château. Just indicate which size you would like in your wishlist order form or email us with a specific request. Bottling charges do apply so please see our Terms for more details.

The blackberry and dark cherry fruit has an appetising juicy feel and none of the stewed character you find in quite a few Right Bank wines from 2018. The texture on the mid-palate is very well-judged too. There's a nice sheen and satin weight. The tannins fuse with the rich fruit beautifully. This is a very refined Saint Emilion with excellent freshness and energy. It's one of the best wines we can remember tasting en primeur from this estate and definitely one to keep a sharp eye on.
