Two Italian favourites get special recognition

by Charles Lea

Tassinaia 2007 and Cigliuti Langhe Nebbiolo 2012

Already recipients of other mentions (Money Week for the Tassinaia, The Telegraph for the Cigliuti Nebbiolo), these two wines have had two great new accolades:-

Following on from the fantastic 2006 vintage, the Tassinaia 2007 has been extremely popular in our shops of late and as Victoria Moore points out in her piece ‘Best Wine Deals’ in The Telegraph last Saturday, offers extremely good value for money compared to its ‘Super Tuscan neighbours.’ She notes that the 2007 has wonderful ‘finesse and grace’ and tips it at £23.95 as seriously under-priced. Don’t tell Charles!

At our shop here on 170 Fulham Rd, we’ve been raving about the Cigliuti wines since we had the pleasure of tasting them with winemaker Claudia Cigliuti towards the end of last year. We were all hugely impressed with their ‘readiness’ for drinking. The Langhe Nebbiolo 2012 was particularly impressive and makes this month’s Decanter ‘Must Try Red’ with its ‘leaf and spice lurking behind the precise red fruits.’
