We have long been fans of the very impressive wines from the Lafite Rothschild family made in collaboration with the Catena family in Argentina – the name CARO comes from the two families – CAtena and ROthschild. This wine may well represent their best release to date.

Bodegas Caro
Started in 1993, Caro is a joint venture between Catena and Domaines Baron de Rothschild. Christian le Sommer (ex Château Latour) is in charge of the winemaking. This is South American wine in a revolutionary style that is altogether more appetising than the norm; characterised by top quality Malbec from excellent terroir, which is given further elegance and complexity through blending with Cabernet Sauvignon. The combination produces a voluptuous, refined wine with a harmonious balance between the wine’s Argentine identity and its Bordeaux style.
