2016 Bordeaux: Lynch Bages ‘wine of First Growth quality’

by Beth Thomas

Out this morning are the Cazes family wines of Pauillac. The grand vin itself CHÂTEAU LYNCH BAGES has been released at £575 per 6 IB. The price of Lynch has drifted higher in recent years, but so have the reviews, and this 2016 has the highest ratings ever en primeur. We recommend this strongly as one of the top wines of the vintage.

It receives a near perfect 97-99 points from Neal Martin who says it is ‘Maybe the biggest surprise of the vintage’ and that it ‘has all the makings of a sensational wine’. Tim Atkin (97 points) says ‘Lynch has made a Fifth Growth wine of First Growth quality in 2016’.

‘This is a great Lynch without doubt, one for Pauillac purists who are looking for powerful impact.’ – Jane Anson (95).

Also out is BLANC DE LYNCH BAGES  at £170 per case of 6 IB and ECHO at £335 per 12 IB.
