2016 Bordeaux – Fill your cellar for under £250 a case

by Edward Richardson

Who says all Bordeaux is overpriced?

We sample a staggering number of wines during the tastings of en primeur week and there is always a treasure trove of beautifully made and very well priced options.

There are particularly rich pickings in a vintage with the quality and consistency of 2016. The * Fill your cellar for under £250 a dozen * list is our pick of the bunch. It is full of fantastic bargains so it couldn’t be easier for you to re-stock your cellar – £2k could easily get you 10 cases of superb claret that will bring huge amounts of pleasure in the years ahead.

If we had to pick our 10 favourites from the longer list, we’d go for these (but there has been spirited discussion about what should go in here) – 12 bottles of each comes to £1960, or an average of £13.61 per bottle in bond.

CLOS MANOU (£175/12)

CHÂTEAU LE CROCK (£200/12)
