{"id":11083,"date":"2014-02-20T16:54:06","date_gmt":"2014-02-20T16:54:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/blog\/?p=11083"},"modified":"2014-05-02T11:47:01","modified_gmt":"2014-05-02T11:47:01","slug":"remi-jobard-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/blog\/2014\/02\/remi-jobard-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"Domaine Remi Jobard 2012 &#8211; Burgundy recommendations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/offer\/109\/Cote-d-Or.html?producer=393\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11106\" title=\"R\u00e9mi Jobard 2012 Meursaults\" alt=\"2012 Burgundy en Primeur\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-2207a.kxcdn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2012-Burgundy-en-Primeur.jpg\" width=\"495\" height=\"138\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As this year&#8217;s Burgundy primeurs season\u00a0progresses and we add a few remaining\u00a0delicacies to the <a title=\"L&amp;S 2012 Burgundy Offer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/offer\/88\/2012%20Burgundy%20En%20Primeur%20Offer.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>website offer<\/strong><\/a>, it is worth mentioning that while much of the\u00a0scrabbling for allocations of\u00a02012 Burgundy has focused on red wines, there are some really great whites.\u00a0This is a little focus on <strong>R\u00e9mi Jobard<\/strong>, whose\u00a0classic Meursaults have been on our list (OK, at first it was his father, Charles) since the very first one 25 years ago.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>&#8220;You\u2019d be happy buying any of the whites from this domaine in 2012, such is their consistent high quality&#8221;<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Tim Atkin MW<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/offer\/109\/Cote-d-Or.html?producer=393\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11223\" alt=\"Remi Jobard with his Stockinger Foudres.\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-2207a.kxcdn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/5252.png\" width=\"376\" height=\"304\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Certified organic since 2008<\/strong>, and fond of\u00a0large foudres (brand new ones, which have to be built in his cellar) from Austrian tonnelier Stockinger\u00a0rather than smaller barrels so as not to over-oak his wines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-MEURSAULT-1er-Cru-Genevrieres-Domaine-Remi-Jobard-19094-00.html?category=109\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">2012 MEURSAULT 1er Cru Genevri\u00e8res Domaine R\u00e9mi Jobard<\/span><\/a><\/span> (\u00a3486)<\/strong><br \/>\nSuch class. There&#8217;s a sort of green streak, but its not greenness in the sense of unripeness, just that it makes it so straight and directed. Considerable volume and concentration. Very rich feel, yet as bracing as a juicy peach, all freshness and juice. So much going on, yet so balanced it gives off a sense of calm, as the opulence balances the exuberance of the flavours. Bravo!<br \/>\n<em>&#8220;This is R\u00e9my Jobard\u2019s top vineyard and the class comes through in the glass. This is a smoky, taut, gently oaked white that is less opulent and flamboyant than some Genevri\u00e8res, but it\u2019s long and crisp and very well balanced. 2015-25&#8221;<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>94 points<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Tim Atkin MW<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>&#8220;The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrieres is blessed with another compelling bouquet with a surfeit of mineralite spilling over from the glass. The palate is very harmonious with citrus lemon, orange rind, dovetailing into a tense, bitter lemon finish that is vigorous and persistent. This is a great Genevrieres that should age gracefully over 10 to 15 years.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>92-94 points<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Neal Martin&#8217;s Wine Journal, erobertparker.com<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>&#8220;This is lovely \u2013 in spite of the malic \u2013 ripe aromatic palate, rounded, airy, very spicy and perfumed. The finish is very long and perfumed. Fine. From 2017&#8221;<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><strong>18 points<\/strong><em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><strong>Sarah Marsh MW &#8211; The Burgundy Briefing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-MEURSAULT-1er-Cru-Poruzot-Dessus-Domaine-Remi-Jobard-19109-00.html?category=109\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">2012 MEURSAULT 1er Cru Poruzot Dessus Domaine R\u00e9mi Jobard<\/span><\/a><\/span> (\u00a3465)<\/strong><br \/>\nThere is real richness and density here. Tasted from the new barrel the oak is evident, but the fruit shrugs it off effortlessly. Pure and long and so seamless.<br \/>\n<em>&#8220;The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru Le Poruzot-Dessus comes from a 0.57-hectare parcel of vines planted in 1944 and 1985. It has a lovely bouquet bursting with mineralite and tension. It actually reminds me of one of Jean-Marc Roulot\u2019s gems. The palate is very well balanced with a crisp, very focused, citric entry. There is lovely poise and freshness here \u2013 a wine leaves you craving to taste it out of bottle tout de suite.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>92-94 points<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Neal Martin&#8217;s Wine Journal, erobertparker.com<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>&#8220;The richness of the oak apparent, but this is a level up in intensity. Tight, good focused core. Compact in the middle palate. It is not at all burly and soaks up the new wood on the palate. I like the definition at the edges of the palate. A well structured wine. Contained and well edged. Towards fine. From 2016\/7&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/em><strong>17.75 points<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Sarah Marsh MW &#8211; The Burgundy Briefing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-MEURSAULT-Chevalieres-Domaine-Remi-Jobard-19099-00.html?category=109\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">2012 MEURSAULT Chevali\u00e8res Domaine R\u00e9mi Jobard<\/span><\/a><\/span> (\u00a3354)<\/strong><em><br \/>\n<\/em>Oldest vines of the domaine, planted in 1940. Nose has a touch of creamy lactic, but the palate is glassy calm, mineral and pure, fresh and subtly delicate. The intensity of flavour is matched by the freshness of acidity. Very long.<em><br \/>\n&#8220;The 2012 Meursault Les Chevaliers has a very vibrant, shimmering bouquet with citrus peel, orange blossom, hints of tropical fruit and minerals. The palate is well balanced with finely judged acidity, excellent tension and a cheeky, oyster shell finish. Taut but sweetly moreish too. 2014-2020+ One of the great bargains of the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Or.<br \/>\n<em>&#8220;Rich and vibrant aroma with plenty of fruit. Juicy, ripe, rounded and generous palate. Quite a lot of oak showing on this, but it will not be on the finished wine. Good acidity on the finish. A forward style.
