The whole stable of wines from Nicolas Thienpont at Pavie Macquin, which started with the Cote de Francs Puygueraud and continued through Trimoulet, to the grander wines, Berliquet<\/strong>, Larcis Ducasse<\/strong>,\u00a0Pavie Macquin<\/strong> itself and\u00a0Beaus\u00e9jour (Duffau Lagarosse)<\/strong>, showed very well.\u00a0Here the\u00a0work started in the vineyard even to the extent\u00a0to changing the trellising of the vines mid-season, and\u00a0Nicolas and consultant winemaker St\u00e9phane D\u00e9renencourt\u00a0clearly got a handle on this challenging vintage. An effort has been made on price too, with Pavie Macquin down nearly 20% and Beaus\u00e9jour down 25%.<\/p>\n

Pichon Lalande<\/strong> seems to have decided that the way to deal with the apathy in the market is to release very little wine – 80% less than last year. Even this may take a moment to find a home this year at \u00a3625 per dozen,\u00a0the same price as one can find the 2012,\u00a0but if you want to be sure, we are all ears.<\/p>\n

Bruno Borie’s Ducru Beaucaillou<\/strong> united the critics in praise, and this will surely be one of the better wines of the vintage.<\/p>\n
