As with many places, it was the Romans who brought vines to the Beaujolais region and the place where they first planted them, so they say, was at R\u00e9gni\u00e9.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Beaujolais<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We are familiar with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-FLEURIE-Clos-de-La-Roilette-Domaine-Coudert-18993-00.html?pack=23563&amp;term=fleurie&amp;page=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fleurie<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-BROUILLY-Vieilles-Vignes-Domaine-Laurent-Martray-19692-00.html?pack=24422&amp;term=brouilly&amp;page=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brouilly<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2010-MOULIN-A-VENT-Vieilles-Vignes-Domaine-Thibault-Liger-Belair-Beaujolais-15964-00.html?pack=20240&amp;term=moulin&amp;page=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Moulin-\u00e0-Vent<\/a>, the best-known of the Beaujolais &#8220;crus&#8221; &#8211; villages of more elevated reputation, allowed to trade on their village name rather than being sold as generic Beaujolais.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine-producer\/Domaine-Rochette-1385-04.htmlhttps:\/\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13765\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-2207a.kxcdn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Domaine-Rochette-Beaujolais.png\" alt=\"Domaine Rochette - Beaujolais\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p><em>50 year-old vines on stony-sandy soils on a granite bedrock<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Less well-known is the village of <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>R\u00e9gni\u00e9<\/strong><\/span>, a relative new-comer to the list (since 1988), but in said village we \u00a0stumbled across Domaine Rochette whose lovely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-BEAUJOLAIS-VILLAGES-Domaine-Rochette-19011-00.html?pack=23587&amp;term=rochette&amp;page=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Beaujolais Villages<\/a> we sell (for simple, uncomplicated, bright fruity Beaujolais-ness), who tempted us for a couple of vintages to brave the indignity of <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Beaujolais Nouveau<\/span> (but it was lovely stuff &#8211; that&#8217;s our excuse), and whose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-REGNIE-Cuvee-des-Braves-Domaine-Rochette-19012-00.html?pack=23588&amp;term=rochette&amp;page=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">village wine<\/a> is a thing of beauty.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-REGNIE-Cuvee-des-Braves-Domaine-Rochette-19012-00.html?\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>R\u00e9gni\u00e9, Cuv\u00e9e des Braves 2012 Domaine Rochette<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h2>\n<div align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-REGNIE-Cuvee-des-Braves-Domaine-Rochette-19012-00.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13753\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-2207a.kxcdn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/2012-RE\u0301GNIE\u0301-Cuve\u0301e-des-Braves-Domaine-Rochette1.png\" alt=\"2012 R\u00c9GNI\u00c9 Cuv\u00e9e des Braves Domaine Rochette\" width=\"496\" height=\"139\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<h3 align=\"center\"><strong>Single bottle \u00a314.50 or just <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u00a312.95<\/span> case price*<\/strong><\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>&#8216;A really fabulous cuv\u00e9e of Regni\u00e9 from the top vineyard site of the village, the &#8216;Cote des Braves&#8217;. But there&#8217;s more. There is a delightful Pinot Noir-esque silky texture; a crisp precision to the fruit; all bound up by a refreshing but enticing finish.
