The &#8216;basic&#8217; wines have been well-appreciated for a couple of years.\u00a0Now we&#8217;ve upped the ante slightly and taken on a premium wine from the estate complete with complicated name and slightly weird looking bottle.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>2011 MALVASIA &#8216;VI\u017dINADA&#8217; Festigia Vina Laguna\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<div align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2011-MALVASIA-VIZINADA-Festigia-Vina-Laguna-20738-00.html?pack=25033&amp;term=malvasia&amp;page=\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13564\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Festigia Malvazija\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-2207a.kxcdn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Festigia-Malvazija1.png\" width=\"464\" height=\"98\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<h3 align=\"center\"><strong>\u00a0 \u00a315.50 per bottle ( just \u00a3<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">13.95<\/span> case price*)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>The Istrian Peninsula<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Istrian Peninsular dangles down into the Adriatic south of Trieste. It&#8217;s been many nationalities &#8211; Venetian, Austrian, Italian, Yugoslav &#8211; but now it&#8217;s settled down as Croatian (apart from the bit that&#8217;s Slovenian). It shares much viticultural tradition and history with nearby Friuli in Italy, including common grape varieties like Pinot Grigio\/Sivi, Pinot Bianco and, as in this instance, Malvasia\/Malvazija.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13813\" alt=\"Istria Peninsula\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-2207a.kxcdn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Istria-Peninsula.png\" width=\"390\" height=\"316\" \/><\/div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Malvasia<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Malvasia is one of the oldest known grape varieties, it&#8217;s thought to have been known to the Ancient Greeks who spread it throughout their World, hence Malvasia cropping up all across the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-13807\" alt=\"Vina Laguna - Istria - Croatia\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-2207a.kxcdn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Vina-Laguna.png\" width=\"521\" height=\"131\" \/><\/div>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Festigia Malvazija Riserva<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Festigia Malvazija Riserva is a hand-picked single vineyard wine, aged in the bottle for two years before release. Despite the dark looks, this is quite light and very sophisticated.
