Big guns out this morning in the shape of the three wines from the Mouton Rothschild<\/strong> stable –\u00a0Ch\u00e2teau Mouton Rothschild, Ch\u00e2teau Clerc Milon and\u00a0Ch\u00e2teau d’Armailhac. Finally something for us all to really consider, a ‘proper’ primeur opportunity.<\/p>\n

A welcoming ram at Mouton<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Of these, our top recommendation is the First Growth Ch\u00e2teau Mouton Rothschild<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0which at \u00a32340\/12 or \u00a31170\/6-pack<\/strong> is the best priced Mouton physically available in the market. In fact it is more than \u00a3500 per dozen cheaper than the 2007 vintage which is the next lowest. It is an impressive wine too, and seems well-supported at this price.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Neither of the other two wines offer quite such a strong reason to buy now, but as drinkers they have their place. Ch\u00e2teau Clerc Milon<\/a><\/strong> is the more convincing of the two, and it stood up really well\u00a0when\u00a0tasted at the ch\u00e2teau. At \u00a3320\/12<\/strong> comes recommended if your intention is to put it away in your own cellar and drink it, although there’s perhaps not enough headroom to allow for paying in bond storage.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The story is similar for Ch\u00e2teau d’Armailhac<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0at \u00a3230\/12<\/strong>, very attractive wine in 2014, and this is a fair price (the next cheapest is the 2007 at \u00a3300) for putting in the cellar for drinking from 2021.<\/p>\n
