As the NSPCC<\/strong> celebrates the 30th anniversary of Childline<\/strong><\/a>, we were delighted to be involved in one of the longer-running fundraising events for the NSPCC for our tenth year<\/strong><\/em>. This year’s\u00a0City Fine Wine Challenge<\/strong> raised a wonderful \u00a3186,500<\/strong>, so a big thank you to all who attended who make our work for this event so rewarding.<\/p>\n

The CWFC<\/strong> is an evening of wine and fun with a bit of competition thrown in. It’s a fast-paced quiz (thank you star quizmaster Tim Atkin MW!) with questions loosely based on the wines being tasted.<\/p>\n

While some questions are\u00a0as ‘simple’ as choosing the grape variety from four alternatives, others conjured up by L&S resident quiz and trivia expert Andrew Hooper can be a little more random. This year Thibault-Liger Belair’s Moulin \u00e0 Vent<\/em> inspired this question and answer:<\/p>\n

“How did Philippe the Bold, Duke of Burgundy, describe Gamay in 1395?”<\/strong><\/p>\n

a)<\/strong> the juice of Kings<\/p>\n

b)<\/strong> peasant\u2019s Pinot Noir<\/p>\n

c)<\/strong> a very bad and disloyal plant<\/span><\/p>\n

d)<\/strong> a white wine coloured red<\/p>\n

The quiz master also included\u00a050:50s, wild cards and even answers could\u00a0be bought, raising yet more money for this excellent cause!<\/p>\n
