MALARTIC LAGRAVI\u00c8RE<\/a>\u00a0\"L&S\"\u00a0is out at\u00a0\u00a3246 per 6 bottles IB<\/strong>. We were really impressed by this\u00a0fine, high-toned and\u00a0very classy Pessac. Neal Martin\u00a0gave it 94-96\/100 and described it\u00a0as a ‘pixelated Pessac-L\u00e9ognan\u00a0<\/em>that exudes style and panache<\/em>…you cannot wait to take another sip<\/em>.’ Galloni was equally convinced. He gave it 92-95\/100 and called it a ‘stunningly beautiful wine<\/em>‘ which ‘captures all the intensity of the vintage while retaining considerable brightness, energy and lift<\/em>.’ At this price it’s well within our estimate so comes very highly recommended.<\/p>\n

DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER<\/a> is also out at \u00a3324 per 6 bottles IB<\/strong>. We found it ripe, juicy and luscious. There’s really very little not to like about this wine and that’s reflected in the critics’ glowing reviews. Neal Martin gave it 94-96\/100 and called it ‘an outstanding Domaine de Chevalier<\/em>‘. Jane Anson rated it 96\/100 and thought it ‘stunning<\/em>. Galloni scored it 93-96\/100 and described it as a ‘brilliant wine in the making<\/em>.’ The only problem is, this\u00a0high praise has been met with a high price. \u00a3324 per 6 IB is a sizable hike from the\u00a02015 release and it now\u00a0sits quite a bit above our estimate. The Malartic Lagravi\u00e8re has the same score from Neal Martin (94-96\/100), so may offer better value?<\/p>\n

CH\u00c2TEAU GISCOURS<\/a>\u00a0is out at \u00a3270 per 6 bottles IB<\/strong>. As Jane Anson says, this estate has been ‘hitting it out of the park for a number of years now<\/em>.’ The 2016 is another home-run. We found it really well crafted with lovely glossy ripe fruit, good density and notable length. Neal Martin scored it 93-95\/100. Galloni called it ‘fabulous<\/em>‘ (91-94\/100). Jancis referred to it as ‘a real crowd pleaser<\/em>‘ (17\/20). It’s worth noting that the release price is above our estimate. Nevertheless, this is a highly-rated Margaux with great potential.<\/p>\n

PAVIE MACQUIN<\/a>\u00a0has been released at \u00a3360 per 6 bottles IB<\/strong>.\u00a0Neal Martin rated this an outstanding 94-96\/100. He thought it was ‘the pick of Nicolas Thienpont’s 2016s<\/em>‘ and ‘one of the best Pavie-Macquins that I have tasted at this stage<\/em>.’ Galloni was even more in awe. He scored this 96-99\/100(!) and called it ‘one of the most riveting wines of the vintage<\/em>‘ and\u00a0‘stunningly beautiful<\/em>‘.\u00a0We were really impressed by the freshness and cool weight of fruit\u00a0when we tasted at the Ch\u00e2teau. It is a touch above our price estimate but it’s an exceptionally well made wine that has outstanding potential.<\/p>\n

CH\u00c2TEAU DE FIEUZAL<\/a>\u00a0has been released at\u00a0\u00a3384 per 12 bottles IB<\/strong>. This is a wine full of promise but it doesn’t quite have\u00a0the juicy appeal of the Domaine de Chevalier or the sheer class of the Malartic-Lagraviere.\u00a0It’s also released a bit above our estimate.<\/p>\n

In case you missed it in the melee yesterday,\u00a0HAUT BAGES LIB\u00c9RAL<\/a>\u00a0is out at\u00a0\u00a3204 per 6 bottles IB. <\/strong>This\u00a0is a very dependable Pauillac and, though it showed a little restrained en primeur<\/em>, we have every confidence this will provide enormous pleasure in bottle.\u00a0Galloni scored\u00a0it 89-92\/100 and described it as ‘gorgeous<\/em>‘.<\/p>\n

Also out is LACOSTE BORIE<\/a>\u00a0\"L&S\", second wine of CH\u00c2TEAU GRAND PUY LACOSTE<\/a>, at\u00a0\u00a3228 per 12 bottles IB<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>This was a deuxi\u00e8me vin that really shone\u00a0when we tasted it at the\u00a0Ch\u00e2teau. It’s\u00a0supple, fine-boned and very elegant. It punches far above its weight and will be great value Pauillac.<\/p>\n

Finally,\u00a0CHEVAL BLANC<\/a>\u00a0has been released at \u00a33,200 per 6 bottles IB<\/strong>. Availability is very limited but let us know if this piques your interest and we will try and source some for you.<\/p>\n
