The estate&#8217;s old vines meant it coped better than some of its Margaux neighbours in the long, dry summer. As a result, this isn&#8217;t a wine that&#8217;s obviously ripe and luscious, it&#8217;s much more classical and refined in style. There&#8217;s a cool elegance here that is very D&#8217;Issan &#8211; more\u00a0Audrey Hepburn than Marilyn Monroe. As Neal Martin says, this is\u00a0a &#8216;<em>beautiful D&#8217;Issan<\/em>&#8216; and &#8216;<em>a classic Margaux through and through<\/em>&#8216; (93-95\/100). Also out is\u00a0D&#8217;Issan&#8217;s second wine\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2016-BLASON-D-ISSAN-Margaux-Chateau-d-Issan-27067-00.html?category=121\">BLASON D&#8217;ISSAN<\/a>\u00a0at <strong>\u00a3227 per 12 bottles IB<\/strong>. This<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>showed plenty of the essence of this fine estate and is a very good value Margaux falling well within our price estimate.<\/p>\n<p>Also out is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2016-CHATEAU-CANON-LA-GAFFELIERE-Grand-Cru-Classe-Saint-Emilion-26887-00.html?category=123\">CANON LA GAFFELI\u00c8RE<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0<strong>\u00a3387 per 6 bottles IB<\/strong>. We found this really ripe, thick and heady. There is real intensity here and it will need plenty of time to settle down. Nevertheless, Neal Martin sees great potential\u00a0here.
