Pricing might be interesting<\/h2>\n<p>We have already\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/blog\/category\/bordeaux-2019-en-primeur\/\">expressed our sympathy<\/a>\u00a0with the view that the interruption of the primeur tastings in Bordeaux should really have resulted in a radical rethink of the whole en primeur circus, which, in the last ten years, has become a selling opportunity for the Chateaux rather than a buying opportunity for the consumer. Nevertheless, wines are coming onto the market, and with at least some of our customers sensing that there might be a buying opportunity with price reductions mentioned, we are going to bring what information we have to you as we get it.<\/p>\n<p>We will inevitably be relying on other commentators&#8217; views, where available, to supplement our own tastings.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201c2019 will be remembered as a \u201cmade-to-measure\u201d vintage for Grand Cru producers who were able to choose the ideal time to begin the harvest.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em>Ronan Laborde (President of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux and owner of Ch\u00e2teau Clinet)<\/p>\n<p>While we have tasted only a limited number of wines so far, we feel that if the rumours of lower prices are confirmed, there will be some we will be able to recommend. Have a look at our &#8216;recommended&#8217; lists for our pick of the bunch.<\/p>\n<p>Time will tell whether the release prices will really come down enough to make this an interesting exercise. We will try to give an honest assessment of both the quality\u00a0<em>and value<\/em>\u00a0of each release. You can follow all our thoughts in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/Latest-News-993\/L-S-Release-Reports-997-02.html\">L&amp;S Release Reports<\/a>\u00a0archive.<\/p>\n<p>For a quick check on what is happening on a daily basis, why not bookmark the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/Latest-News-993\/Recent-Releases-994-02.html\">\u2018Recent Releases\u2019<\/a>\u00a0page which will give you all the wines in release order.<\/p>\n<h2>PONTET CANET kicks off<\/h2>\n<p>Today\u2019s release of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2019-CHATEAU-PONTET-CANET-5eme-Cru-Classe-Pauillac-40294-00.html?category=1004&amp;utm_source=Lea+%26+Sandeman&amp;utm_campaign=e81be22dec-2018+Burgundy+EP+Live+-+LANDS_COPY_01&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_186c892511-e81be22dec-&amp;goal=0_186c892511-e81be22dec-&amp;mc_cid=e81be22dec&amp;mc_eid=%5bUNIQID%5d\">Ch\u00e2teau Pontet Canet<\/a><\/strong> at \u00a3366 per six bottles has certainly given lead. At a release price that is close to 31% down on the 2018, and a note from Jane Anson in Decanter (from her tasting at the Ch\u00e2teau last week) that this is as \u2018<em>an excellent Pontet, full of vigour<\/em>&#8216;, and giving it 96\/100, it looks attractively priced compared to comparable vintages. It is apparently selling well in many markets.<\/p>\n<p>Other releases of note to date:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2019-CHATEAU-BEAUMONT-Haut-Medoc-40453-00.html?category=994\">2019\u00a0CH\u00c2TEAU BEAUMONT<\/a>, a reliable cellar-filler for a mere \u00a3102\/doz in bond, Pierre Ta\u00efx&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2019-CHATEAU-LA-MAURIANE-Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion-40358-00.html?category=994\">2019\u00a0CH\u00c2TEAU LA MAURIANE<\/a>\u00a0at \u00a3145\/doz in bond, by all accounts excelling in this vintage (even more than usual), and Jean-No\u00ebl and Thomas Herv\u00e9&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2019-CHATEAU-MOULIN-HAUT-LAROQUE-Fronsac-40359-00.html?category=994\">2019\u00a0CH\u00c2TEAU MOULIN HAUT LAROQUE<\/a>, one of our favourite Fronsacs, rated \u2018best-ever\u2019 by James Suckling, at \u00a3170 \/ doz in bond.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/2019-Bordeaux-En-Primeur-995\/Home-996-02.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23272 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-2207a.kxcdn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Preshipment-offer-button.png\" alt=\"Pre-shipment offer\" width=\"130\" height=\"58\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vintage good to outstanding.
