Although a hotly anticipated release, Cos d\u2019Estournel, with its position next to Lafite, is arguably St Est\u00e8phe\u2019s answer to a first growth.<\/p>\n

The 2019 was offered to us this morning with a score of 97-99 points from The Wine Advocate and sitting at \u00a3684 per 6 bottles IB<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In our eyes, there are two ways of looking at the release. The position of the price in the graph above points to the 2017 as a better value option, with the potential to rise higher up the ratings, whilst the 2016 looks like the obvious purchase for anyone looking at the wine from a more financial perspective.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Cos is still seriously good value when you contextualise it within its peer group- the scores really do warrant the \u2018first growth of Saint Est\u00e8phe\u2019 claim and with the potential for this year\u2019s release to morph into a higher score, as indicated by the \u2018+\u2019 sign, it is one that Cos collectors will undoubtedly still find a place in their cellars for.<\/p>\n

\u2018This wine so beautifully, clearly captures the juxtaposition between the periods of dry heat and those hallelujah moments of refreshing rain – the hallmarks of this great vintage. It’s a vinous masterpiece in the making.\u2019<\/em>
