It was barely enough to put a few bottles into the shops (once the directors had taken their small allocation), and definitely\u00a0not enough to make an offer\u00a0to a wider audience. Until now that is.<\/p>\n<p>Some other merchant has apparently failed to take up their allocation and we have been offered\u00a0fifty cases of six bottles at a price to sell it fast, because ideally\u00a0this sherry needs drinking while it is at its freshest, which really means over the next two months.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Hidalgo Manzanilla LA GITANA &#8216;En Rama&#8217;\u00a0Case of 6 bottles\u00a0\u00a371.70 (\u00a311.95 bottle)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The great success of Javier Hidalgo&#8217;s &#8216;La Gitana&#8217; can be attributed to both the consistently great quality of his Sanlucar\u00a0de Barrameda Manzanilla Fino (lighter bodied than Jerez Fino) and the brilliant marketing with the wistful looking\u00a0gypsy lady on the label. The &#8216;En Rama&#8217; is even more intensely flavoured than the normal widely available version\u00a0<em>(this is La Gitana on steroids!), <\/em>and at only \u00a311.95 has to be one of the most underpriced fine wine bargains on the planet.<\/p>\n<p>Selected by The Wine Gang at the London Wine Trade Fair as <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The Best Fortified Wine in Show <\/span><\/strong>with\u00a0the following\u00a0tasting note: <em>Nutty, ozone, lemon and creamy quality, real sea-breeze freshness. Creamy, bone-dry, mineral freshness with salty, nutty flavours and a searingly dry finish with a flash of marmite, but so beautifully tangy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I, for one,\u00a0intend drinking\u00a0at least a\u00a0bottle of this every week, with salted almonds and\u00a0any number of &#8216;tapas&#8217;,\u00a0over the coming six weeks\u00a0to\u00a0see me through the armchair\u00a0Olympics.
