Yes one would like it to be cheaper yet, but that&#8217;s true of London houses too. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-CHATEAU-TRONQUOY-LALANDE-Saint-Estephe-18658-00.html?category=118\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Ch\u00e2teau Tronquoy Lalande<\/strong><\/a>, also made by this team, is another strikingly good wine, as of course is Montrose&#8217;s second wine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-DAME-DE-MONTROSE-du-Chateau-Montrose-Saint-Estephe-Chateau-Montrose-18686-00.html?category=118\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Dame de Montrose<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog-2207a.kxcdn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/The-Winemaking-team-at-Montrose1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7428\" alt=\"The Winemaking team at Montrose\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-2207a.kxcdn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/The-Winemaking-team-at-Montrose1.png\" width=\"495\" height=\"118\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The team at Montrose and Tronquoy Lalande\u00a0&#8211;<br \/>\nLorraine Watrin, Laurent Savovitch-Vuk, Yves\u00a0Delsol.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Olivier Bernard, owner of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-DOMAINE-DE-CHEVALIER-Cru-Classe-Pessac-Leognan-18621-00.html?category=122\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Domaine de Chevalier<\/strong><\/a>, is also president of the Union des Grands Crus, and he has caused some anger this morning amongst Bordeaux negociants by not showing a lead\u00a0by reducing his prices at all this year. That said, the wines at this property have never been better, and relative to the quality of the wines here (and the scarcity of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-DOMAINE-DE-CHEVALIER-Blanc-Cru-Classe-Pessac-Leognan-18514-00.html?category=117\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>white<\/strong><\/a>, of which only 1500 cases are made), these are not expensive compared to their peers. Both red and white come highly recommended &#8211; <strong><em>if you want the white get your skates on!<\/em><\/strong> Robert Parker calls the red &#8220;One of the stars of the vintage&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Over in <strong>Pomerol<\/strong> (the most successful bit of Bordeaux in 2012)\u00a0there have been two releases this morning, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-CHATEAU-ROUGET-Pomerol-18529-00.html?category=124\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Ch\u00e2teau Rouget<\/strong> <\/a>is a very sensibly-priced wine from a property on the up. Parker 90-93 and really\u00a0I tasted this very well too &#8211; you can&#8217;t regret having this in your cellar.<\/p>\n<p>I did not make it to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-CHATEAU-CLINET-Pomerol-18620-00.html?category=124\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Ch\u00e2teau Clinet<\/strong> <\/a>this year, but others in the group\u00a0I was with did, and reported a top-notch effort. See Tim Atkin&#8217;s note (as usual click the wine name\u00a0to see the detail page). I did not taste <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaandsandeman.co.uk\/wine\/2012-CLOS-L-EGLISE-Pomerol-18569-00.html?category=124\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Clos l&#8217;\u00c9glise<\/strong> <\/a>either, it seems to be a wine that has broadly divided critics depending on which side of the Atlantic they come from, which may say something about the style.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2012 Bordeaux &#8211;
