Tasting activities in W4 for 2013 resume on\u00a0Wednesday\u00a025th\u00a0September\u00a0with a rather special evening. Here in the shop in Chiswick – that doyen of British wine journalism, jovial bon viveur and knowledgeable evangelist for fruits of the Lusitanian vine,\u00a0Charles Metcalfe<\/b><\/a>\u00a0will on hand to talk you through a selection of Portuguese wines pulled from the shelves of\u00a0LEA & SANDEMAN<\/b>. Charles was one of the founders of Wine Magazine, organiser of the International Wine Challenge, and has been a regular face on television for some time being Richard & Judy\u2019s wine expert for a number of years amongst other things.\u00a0 We are lucky and privileged to have him for an evening and are keen to share his unmatched knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with you.<\/p>\n

\"Charles<\/div>\n

The tasting starts just after 8pm as the shop closes and continues until we can stop him talking (or until the singing starts!), maybe 1\u00bd to 2 hours later, by which time you will have sampled 9 of the finest Portuguese offerings we can find.\u00a0 Despite being a tutored tasting, and featuring one of the great luminaries of the English wine trade, the intention is that this will be as relaxed and informal as our tastings normally are.<\/p>\n

As ever, all we ask of you is a humble\u00a0\u00a315<\/b>\u00a0per person, and that we will gladly give you back when you buy \u00a350 or more of wine on the evening \u2013 something that we are confident that Charles can enthuse you to do.<\/p>\n

We expect this to be a very popular event and we only have very limited space, so please act with some alacrity to secure your place.\u00a0 Please note that places will only be secure on exchange of the requisite \u00a315. You should note, also, that\u00a0seated<\/i>\u00a0space is usually non-existent at this venue and, at best, will be more than limited \u2013 if there is a particular issue that requires the use of a seat, let us know and we\u2019ll see what can be done.<\/p>\n
