Domaine de l'Aiguelière
The 12ha Domaine de l’Aiguelière estate, in the commune of Montpeyroux about 15 miles east of Montpellier, has belonged to the Commeyras family for several generations, although they have only made wine for themselves since 1987. Grapes are harvested by hand, and each parcel of vines is vinified separately in stainless-steel tanks before ageing in a selection of different oak casks. In the mid 90’s Robert Parker described Domaine de l’Aiguelière as “perhaps the best estate in the higher altitudes of the Coteaux du Languedoc” and, whilst there is perhaps more competition for that crown these days, we are inclined to believe that the quality is still very much there.
