Riccardo Cotarella's appointment as oenologist at the Sportoletti estate in Spello, the neighbouring town to Assisi, has taken the quality of winemaking at the estate into the international league. Cotarella’s ability to make excellent Merlot based wines is as evident in both the Assisi Rosso as in the ‘super-Umbrian’ Villa Fidelia Rosso. The twenty hectare estate is made up of a number of small vineyards high in the hills above the towns of Assisi and Spello.
