I have not seen any vintage ports from Sandeman since 1985, but this 1988 single quinta is a spectacularly rich, concentrated, impressive port. It offers an opaque purple color and a bouquet that displays ostentatious aromas of jammy red and black fruits, licorice, spices, and spring flowers. Extremely full-bodied, yet velvety-textured, unctuous, and layered with concentrated fruit, there is enough complexity and smoothness to this moderately sweet, expansively-flavored port to be drunk now, as well as over the next 15-20 years.
