Aged 22 months in oak - a combination of American, French and Russian barrels - this has a glorious nose: big, meaty, earthy and gamy, with copious aromas of flowers and raspberries soaked in blood (sorry - much nicer than it sounds!). It is primal and inviting. There's a touch of animal to this, but we find it absolutely beautiful with its fresh red fruits and tobacco spice, a certain elegance through its taut tannins and juicy acidity, and it is drinking so nicely now for your next upscale dinner party (but will cellar without a doubt).
