A spice of oak cannot hide the sheer joy of this. Old Pinots 'en massale' - no clones here. Like entering a lush jungle, you can get lost but want to go exploring. Absolutely fab, fantastically long, so complex and so suave. L&S (Nov 2010)

The 2009 Nuits St. Georges La Richemone Ultra bursts onto the palate with an exciting array of black fruit, tar, smoke and licorice. Voluptuous fruit and considerable energy come together beautifully in this deep, resonant Nuits. Here, too, the wine's energy is utterly compelling. 2019-2029 Rating: 93 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Nov 2013)

A trace of reduction cannot completely dampen the spicy and earthy nose that is otherwise similar to that of the regular cuvée. There is slightly more depth and breadth to the suave, round and palate staining big-bodied flavors that also possess immense mid-palate concentration that creates a suave and seductive shock absorber for the big but round tannins that show up on the seriously long finish. This is terrific. 2021+ Rating: 92-94 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2011)

Deep red-ruby. Much fruitier on the nose than the regular Richemone, with cassis, blackberry and minerals dominating. A creamy yet firm fruit bomb in the mouth, with a solid tannic spine framing and extending the dark fruit, spice and menthol flavors. The very long finish combines noble tannins, intense fruit and terrific lift. But this needs a decade in the cellar. Rating: 93(+?) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Jan 2011)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
