We tasted this wine a couple of years back and found it quite oaky, but a recent tasting showed how the wine has completely digested the oak and is now a classic Haut Médoc, quite modern in style, form and bright and pure, with quite a punch of concentration from the exceptional 2010 vintage, but really beginning to get into its stride - can only improve over next few years. It's a Macon gold medal winner. Drinking range: 2017 - 2023 L&S (Nov 2015)

Tasted at the Crus Bourgeois 2010 tasting in London. There is plenty of ripe blackberry and raspberry fruit on the nose of the de Malleret, with touches of dark plum emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, dense tannins. There is very good weight here with an appealing, tobacco infused, grainy finish that shows great persistency. Superb. Drink now-2018. Tasted September 2012. Rating: 90 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Sept 2012)
