Still just in its malo when I tasted, and showing oak a little, probably as a result. Rich, full and gutsy tannins, and then a really harmonious sweet fruit which powers through. Very different style, all in low level power rather than top-notes, at least for now. Lots of richness. L&S (Dec 2011)

The 2010 Mazoyères-Chambertin explodes from the glass with tons of mineral-driven energy and vibrancy. It is a striking wine layered with saline notes that wrap around the red fruit with tons of intensity, conveying a sense of urgency that is thrilling. Bright red berries, flowers, mint and licorice saturate the palate on the piercing finish. The use of 100% whole clusters gives the wine much of its aromatic brilliance and delineation. This is another 2010 that is clearly built for the long haul as evidenced by the huge tannic finish. Rating: 95-97 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Nov 2013)

There's more than a hint of Laphroaig-like peatiness in the ok here, but the underlying fruit is superb: plums, blackcurrants and attractive ginger spice. The tannins need time to soften, yet this is a great wine for the cellar. 2018-30 Rating: 97 Tim Atkin MW, www.timatkin.com (Mar 2012)
