Gabrielle Simmers' second vintage of Hawkes' Bay Sauvignon from a single vineyard opposite the famous Te Mata 'Coleraine' block, sees the introduction of 5% Pinot Gris to the blend. Wonderfully full-flavoured Sauvignon with complex aromatics as well as deeply satisfying texture and length, this is a true vineyard wine and definitely not just another run of the mill NZ Sauvignon. It is unique.The quirky presentation in a dark green glass champagne bottle with crown-cap closure merely serves to emphasise the real difference which is in the wine inside. Aptly named 'The Supernatural' to emphasis both the blend and Gabrielle's sustainable, organic/natural style of winemaking. L&S (May 2012)

A unique hotel which just happens to have an even more unique vineyard attached. Planted to Sauvignon Blanc and a small quantity of Pinot Gris (on the steeper slope), the intention of winemaker Gabrielle Simmers is to produce a single aromatic white with texture and food-friendly style. This first release to hit the export market is still a single varietal Sauvignon, but there is no doubting the class of fruit produced here.
