Harvested 2nd September. Rich fruit, nicely tonic tannins, and an acidity which seems a little apart for now. A very good Bourgogne from vines that used to be classified as village Vosne. L&S (Dec 2012)

The 2011 Bourgogne is a great introduction to the Mugneret-Gibourg wines. Dark red cherry, plum, spice and menthol are some of the nuances that take shape in the glass. The 2011 is pliant, expressive and very nicely done. Once again, the Bourgogne is complete and attractive. 2014-2018 Rating: 88 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Apr 2014)

(from vines that were at one time classified as Vosne villages before the AOC system was established). A very spicy nose of ripe plum and cassis leads to very rich and round middle weight flavors that possess a lovely mouth feel as there is good concentration as well as solid phenolic maturity to the relatively fine grained tannins. There is fine balance and length and this offers excellent quality for the appellation. Strongly recommended. 2014+ Rating: 87-89 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2013)

Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg

Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg and Domaine Georges Mugneret have, from the 2008 vintage onward, combined as one fiscal entity to become Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg, so ending (or adding to) the naming confusion. The responsibility for the domaine has been for some years been that of Georges Mugneret's daughters Marie-Christine and Marie Andrée, although their mother still plays her part. With one a pharmacist and the other an oenologist, the domaine was always going to be in safe hands as far as the winemaking was concerned, and these are top-flight burgundies with that elusive balance of enough concentration allied with delicacy of expression and the capability of ageing well. Recently all the vineyard management has been brought in-house (the domaine previously relied on two métayeurs for part of the vineyard) and the quality has reached new heights.
