(from 88-year-old vines, according to Perrot-Minot): Good saturated ruby-red. Shy, brooding aromas of blackberry, violet and licorice convey a tiny-berry character. A densely packed, creamy bomb of black fruits on the palate: hugely concentrated and sweet, utterly seamless and extremely primary for the vintage. The tannins are perfectly buffered on the whiplash of a finish, which mounts inexorably. Rating: 92-95 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Dec 2014)

This brooding and powerful effort is much more backward and primary than the Charmes with its overtly muscular and stony broad-shouldered flavors that possess plenty of mid-palate stuffing. The supporting tannins are very firm though not hard or aggressive and this adds to the present austerity on the otherwise ripe, long, well-balanced and palate staining finish. Impressive. ('Don't Miss!') Drinking range: 2026 - Rating: 93-95 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2013)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
