Lush, yet vibrant. All silk and sweetness, held in check only just. Sexy and rich. Lovely length and depth of red black fruit. Cassis is there, nice and bright. A real burst of bright juicy flavour on the finish. L&S (Dec 2012)

Still red but maturing at the rim. There is a slight meatiness here, while on the palate the volume of fruit speaks grand cru and it does have the soft warm approach typical of Charmes, along with quite good acidity. The wine finishes with fine persistence, and is nearly ready now. Drink from 2025-2030. Tasted: April 2023. Drinking range: 2025 - 2030 Rating: *** Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy  (May 2023)

Moderately saturated ruby-red. Highly nuanced nose offers black cherry, dried flowers, crushed rock, mocha and nutty oak. Tangy and alive from entry to finish, boasting terrific inner-mouth tension to the slightly saline flavors of dark berries, violet and spices. Finishes tight and savory, with terrific verve. This very high-pitched Charmes should evolve slowly and gain in depth with bottle age. The potential alcohol here was a healthy 12.5% and the wine will be bottled at 13.2%. Rating: 92-95 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Dec 2014)

A classic and typical Perrot-Minot wine, the 2011 Charmes-Chambertin is built on a serious core of huge, intense fruit. Dark blue/black fruit, sweet tobacco, menthol, licorice and new leather notes abound in a rich, powerful Burgundy bursting at the seams with intensity. This is a decidedly structured 2011 that needs to be cellared. 2019-2031 Rating: 95 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Apr 2014)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
