74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot. Same ownership and management as Calon Segur. Lovely supple smooth appeal. Fine tannins and cool Cabernet class. Vincent Millet had a new cuverie at his disposal for this vintage, and was for the first time able to really vinify each parcel separately. Much of the Merlot was left out; in his search for finesse he found many of the Merlots showed an acerbic power he did not like. Not massive but lovely pure length. Rating: 90 L&S (Apr 2012)

A blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon and 26% Merlot, harvested from 5th September and finishing 19th September with the Cabernet, the Capbern Gasqueton has a simple bouquet of raspberry leaf, strawberry and a touch of mulberry fruit. There is a touch of hardness on the entry, although that will soften by the time of bottling. Good acidity, masculine, not quite as precise as the 2010 with a slight abrupt finish.
