Even harvested very early this has got its supple, weighty, smooth warmth, but also spice and brightness in the fine tannins. L&S (Jan 2013)

Palish medium red. Highly perfumed, distinctly red aromas of cherry and rose petal. Sweet, creamy and full but not a bit overripe; consistent from start to finish. I find this broad wine more harmonious than the young 2012. Finishes with sweet dusty tannins and lovely length. Rating: 92 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Mar 2014)
Medium red. Pungent minerality lifts aromas of redcurrant, red cherry and chocolate. Silky, dense and intense, with sappy, dry red fruit flavors complicated by mineral and soil tones. This lovely, vibrant wine really spreads out to coat the palate on the youthfully firm back end. Rating: 90-93 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Feb 2013)
(from a .76 ha parcel, which is about 30% of the total climat). This is also exceptionally spicy and again offers a notable step up in both aromatic complexity as well as fruit density. There is good freshness to the mostly cassis, black raspberry and plum aromas though there is a top note of violet too. There is good extract that coats the mouth and imparts a seductive texture to the medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a solidly powerful and energetic finish. This is on the lighter side for an Echézeaux but it is by no means dilute or without sufficient substance to be interesting. 2017+ Rating: 89-92 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2013)
Domaine Anne Gros
Anne Gros joined her father François at the family domaine in Vosne Romanée in 1988, having given up her arts studies in favour of viticulture and oenology at Beaune and Dijon, and has run the domaine alone since 1995. The Domaine now has 6.5 hectares of Pinot and Chardonnay. Anne describes herself as being 'wary of certainties and keen to preserve her freedom'.
In the vineyards Anne practises viticulture influenced by organic and biodynamic principles, and the vineyards are ploughed and fertilised with compost, but although she believes that the long-term health of the vineyards are best preserved by such methods, she likes to maintain the freedom to use conventional treatments when necessary.
In the cellar, the wines are classically made, in cement tanks for the reds, and stainless steel for the whites. They are then are aged in barrel for up to fifteen months, with 80% new wood for the grand crus, 50% for the village wines and 30% for the regional wines. Anne is quietly meticulous and almost obsessive about cleanliness in her cellar, which perhaps is reflected in the delicacy and restrained tension in her wines, which have aromatic clarity, limpid precision, sheer joie de vivre, lively balance and persistence.
