The 2011 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte wraps around the palate with gorgeous depth and pure power. Dark red black fruit, tobacco, smoke, licorice and new leather all flesh out on the inviting, textured finish. This is another wine with great intensity of fruit married to considerable underlying structure. Today, the Riotte is pure pleasure. 2015-2026 Rating: 93 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Apr 2014)

Good full red. High-pitched stony lift to the aromas of red fruits, brown spices and mocha. Sweet, layered and vinous, with terrific acidity giving shape and tension to the thick flavors of berries and minerals. The crop level here was just 25 hectoliters per hectare, according to Christophe Perrot-Minot. Long on personality. Rating: 92 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Mar 2014)

Deep ruby-red. Complex, soil-driven aromas and flavors of minerals, black and white pepper, bitter chocolate, crushed rock, cinder and blood orange. Juicy, fine-grained and suave, with lovely balance and inner-mouth tension. Finishes with a peppery freshness and very good length, the firm tannins nicely buffered by the wine's mid-palate material. Perrot-Minot told me he has been vinifying this cuvee more gently over the past three or four years. Rating: 89-92 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Feb 2013)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
