Vineyard Charmes Chambertin

Bright, dark red. Wonderfully aromatic nose combines raspberry, menthol, dried rose and sexy soil notes. Silky and voluminous but with saline minerality contributing vibrancy, delineation and tautness to the middle palate. More soil than floral tones here. Not at all dry but the wine's tannins and acidity will need several years to resolve. Finishes salty and long. Drinking range: 2023 - 2034 Rating: 92+ Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Mar 2017)

Offers cherry, plum, earth and spice aromas and flavors, showing good definition. Balanced and structured, this picks up a mineral note on the finish. Drinking range: 2021 - 2038 Rating: 94 Bruce Sanderson, The Wine Spectator (Feb 2017)

This is cool and pure to the point of being almost timid with its restrained array of red currant, pomegranate, earthy and softly sauvage-inflected nose. There is fine intensity to the sleek and satin-textured flavors that are muscular yet dance across the palate on the saline and wonderfully refreshing finish. This is clearly built-to-age yet it's already inviting. Drinking range: 2024 - Rating: 92-94 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2016)

From a stony, east-facing site next to Chambertin, this well-drained parcel gets some reflected heat from the terroir. Fine, floral and subtle, the resulting wine has filigree tannins, sweet red berry fruit, deftly handled oak and a balanced, chalky finish. Deceptively drinkable young. 2019-28 Drinking range: 2019 - 2028 Rating: 96 Tim Atkin MW, www.timatkin.com (Jan 2016)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
