Zesty, lime green colour, fresh and inviting nose with hints of tropical fruit and figs. In the mouth it has clean, crisp flavours with a mineral finish. Drinking range: 2017 - 2018 L&S (Jul 2015)

A serious, attractively dry and grassy Sauvignon from South Africa. There's no hurry to drink this – in fact it should age well in bottle. Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com (Dec 2017)
Very green and grassy on the nose. Good structure and chew. This is not going to fall over in a hurry and is a serious wine. GV Drinking range: 2017 - 2019 Rating: 16.5 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com (Oct 2017)
There’s no way you’d mistake this for a Loire or Marlborough sauvignon. It has a faint air of baked apricot skin , and also smells of wet river rocks, lemon grass, green figs and white asparagus. Carefully metered, to the point of being almost prickly, and dry. Very good. Victoria Moore, The Daily Telegraph (Feb 2017)
Medium-bodied, verdant, herbal style of Sauvignon with a green-bean sweetness and an attractive smoky nose. Dombeya is part of Haskell Vineyards in Stellenbosch, but some of the grapes for this cheaper label are bought in, hence the Western Cape designation. Rating: 87 www.thewinegang.com (Apr 2016)
Owned by American entrepreneur Preston Haskell (who now lives in London) this 23 hectare property in Stellenbosch is run by Rianie Strydom, one of South Africa's most dynamic and successful winemakers.
Rianie has had a lifelong passion of making wine, and after ten years at Morgenhof, where she received plentiful awards, was given the opportunity in 2002 to run the Dombeya/Haskell estate. As a result of her experience in Burgundy, Bordeaux and Italy her wine making style is understandably more classic than new world in style. The idea of the Dombeya 'foundation range' is to produce wines of excellent value which demonstrate her ability to produce stylish and distinctive wines that are not expensive.
Both the Dombeya Syrah and the Fenix (Bordeaux blend) have already been double gold winners, and her first vintage of the Haskell Pillars Shiraz, in the premium range, has just been awarded both the best Red Wine of Show and Shiraz categories of the Tri Nations Wine Challenge in Sydney. Quite an achievement and exciting time ahead.
