Deep ruby. Heady red and blue fruit, potpourri and fruitcake aromas show excellent clarity and pick up a minerally nuance with air. Combines power and finesse with a deft hand, offering palate-staining black raspberry and boysenberry flavors that spread out slowly on the back half. Shows real intensity and a suave floral pastille quality on the youthfully tannic finish, which leaves a sappy blue fruit note behind. Drinking range: 2018 - 2023 Rating: 92-92 Josh Raynolds, www.vinousmedia.com (Aug 2016)

From a famous little corner of Fleurie, the soils here are more limestone based and as a result gives wines with more structure than most Fleuries. This wine is named after a racehorse 'La Roilette' owned by a previous owner of the area, hence the silhouette of a horse head on the label. The Couderts own the largest part of this old estate, and pick from old vines at maximum maturity to make fully coloured wines with great juicy richness.
